Backstory

In 2015, after graduating college, I teamed up with my friend, Jon Maser, to work on a startup. Our experience traveling the world and interacting with locals in various destinations, convinced us that we could create more impactful group experiences than anything we’d seen in our travels.

Results

We founded Made by Adventure to highlight travel as a force for good. To date, we’ve launched trips in 5 countries with the help of our non-profit and social-enterprise network partners. It's no longer a full-time project, but we hope to continue running limited trips for family and friends.

The following collection of images and assets show the evolution of the project and brand. Our focus is to create experiences that result in both adventurous and memorable stories. By bringing together non-profit partners, local guides, and a group of travelers, we create the conditions for a well-rounded experience that benefits all parties.

Our approach to branding is narrative-centric and community-based. When travelers join a Made by Adventure experience, they are buying into a philosophy, rather than an itemized itinerary. Read about our conservation rafting trip in Colombia to get a first-hand account.

At the time of launching Made by Adventure, neither Jon or I had any design training. We learned on the fly and created designs based on emotion and intuition. I strongly believe this stage of my career benefit my design philosophy immensely. While I now have years of formal practice and application, I still haven't lost the intuition or scrappy approach that ushered me into a career of design.

Best trip ever! World-class local guides, crazy fun adventures, and just the right amount of unpredictability.
